Adot are proud to have hosted the mothers2mothers’ Winter Fundraiser Gala Dinner. The private dinner, which precedes World AIDS Day on Sunday, December 1st, supports the inspirational work of mothers2mothers in their goal for health, hope and a generation free from HIV in sub-Saharan Africa.
The intimate event, hosted by actors David Tennant and Arabella Weir, was supported by Gucci and included a live auction plus a surprise musical performance by Ellie Goulding. Notable attendees at the intimate event included m2m spokeswoman Colile Mashaba, Marco Bizzarri, Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, Ozwald Boateng, Naomi Campbell, Edward Enninful and Thierry Henry.
The evening was a huge success and attendees had the opportunity to support mothers2mothers and find out more about their vital work.
mothers2mothers
mothers2mothers (m2m) is an organisation that unlocks the power of women to eliminate childhood AIDS and create healthy families. m2m trains and employs women living with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa as “Mentor Mothers”. Through their training and employment, they become role models who help women and families at health facilities and in their communities access essential services and medical care, start on any treatment they need, and continue with their health journey. From an initial focus on stopping mothers living with HIV from passing on the virus to their unborn babies, m2m now delivers a range of services for newborns, children, adolescents and families, to ensure the whole community thrives, not just survives.
Mentor Mothers are armed with the knowledge of how it feels to be in their clients’ shoes and are trusted members of their community – a simple, but incredibly effective, model of sisterhood. m2m has created jobs for over 10,000 women living with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa since its creation in 2001, and these Mentor Mothers have reached over 11M women and children under two. In 2018, m2m helped to almost end mother-to-child transmission of HIV among its clients for the fifth year in a row, and saw 30,775 children and caregivers benefit from its integrated Early Childhood Development services across Eswatini, Kenya, Malawi and South Africa.
We look forward to continuing our work with mothers2mothers in the future.
