Adot’s ‘Chanukah in the Square’ – Creative Writing Competition

On 10th December 2012 Adot were proud sponsors of the Chanukah In The Square event in Trafalgar Square.

On the night, more than 5000 descended upon the square in Central London to hear Boris Johnson talk about the importance of the Festival of Lights. Adot made the evening extra special for one little girl, Georgia Rickless of Rosh Pinah Primary School, who won our creative writing competition based around the theme Sharing the flame at Chanukah. Georgia received VIP treatment on the night and even met Mayor London Boris Johnson himself.

Here is her winning creative writing entry:

“The flames dancing around in the dark. I feel safe, I feel the warmth, I feel peace and nothing disturbing me. But when I am in a deep sleep someone wakes me up with a candle in my face.” I said “stop” quickly. I said “Let me go back into the light flickering flames”. It’s working back into the light, back into the flames of the candles, the flames dancing around. I can smell the burning and that’s the sign of happiness, peace and company. I wake up. It’s the time for me to light it again. It’s Chanukah. It’s the next night of Chanukah. I can have peace again”.
