Supporting Peace Week with Stand With Us

Stand With Us approached us last to ask for our support of their Peace Week 2018 as they knew the philosophy of the week was the perfect fit for Adot!

We were thrilled to sponsor their Peace Week aiming to Foster Dialogue, Reform Campus Culture and Build Bridges with regards to conflict. Stand With Us, the charity coordinating Peace Weeks across a number of UK Universities, are fighting hatred and anti-Semitism through education and discussion.

The Peace Week, while applicable to all conflicts and hate, was focused on education and coexistence for the Israel-Palestine conflict. Students from Jewish and Israel student societies from different universities came together to open up discussion with other students about the conflict and means to peace.

We sponsored the Peace Weeks at Queen Mary and City Universities and donated lots of our ‘Coexistence’ t-shirts as a representation of our call for peace. We were joined by a delegation of students from Israel who engaged with UK students about their country, the ongoing conflict and the need for peace without violence.

Jonathan Farrell, Communities Director of Stand With Us UK, commented:

“Peace Week UK was the first, nationwide campaign across over 20 participating University campuses that promoted especially the values of peace, dialogue and coexistence around the Israel-Palestine conversation. Amidst growing division amongst student communities it was imperative now, more than ever, to counter the division with a positive, non discriminatory message that encouraged bridging divides rather than creating them. Thanks to Peace Week UK the conversation on University campuses about the Israel-Palestine conflict was shifted in a positive direction”.

To coincide with Peace Week, we also launched our Peace Prize Draw for UK Students. Click here to find out how to enter for your chance to win £200!
